Sexy Brains   Leave a comment

Having sex more often improves brain function!

Those who keep their sex life active right through to their golden years were found to have improved fluency and spatial skills, helping in old age, a study by Oxford and Coventry Universities found.

Sex, as I’ve described in my book, Exploring Sex, Love and Lust, releases the ‘feel good’ hormone dopamine into the brain, helping with complex mental tasks. Lead author, Dr Hayley Wright, said: ‘This study shows that more sex at an older age is linked with better brain power …. it is a reminder that it is important to maintain intimate relationships as you age.’ She went on to say, ‘There is still a taboo, where older people don’t want to talk about having sex, and some people don’t want to think about it, but this shows it could be very positive.’

Researchers at Coventry University, in a previous study, found having sex improved older people’s memory – but didn’t look at how often participants had sex. The updated study, published in the Journals of Gerontology, Series B, and reported in the Daily Mail in the UK, asked 73 people aged between 50 and 83, how often they had sex in the previous 12 months – either not at all, or monthly, or weekly.

In tests of their brain power, those who had sex weekly scored 2% higher than those who did every month … and their cognitive abilities were 4% better than those who had been celibate for the past year.

So, clearly, if you want to keep the old brain cells going well into old age, you need to keep up the frequent sex!

Need to Pee   Leave a comment

Us fellas can’t help it, but as we get older our prostate gland enlarges and squeezes tight around the urethra (the tube that runs from our bladder to the end of our penis). Symptoms are a need to pee frequently and weak flow.

This problem is described, medically, as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH for short. If you’re thinking, ‘Oh good, the bigger my prostate, the more ejaculate I’ll make.’ Sorry guys, that’s not true.

But here’s some good news: In a trial at Queen’s University in Ontario, 750 men with BPH were given tadalafil (Cialis to you and me) once a day for 12 weeks. Cialis, like seldenafil (Viagra), increases blood flow to the penis, helping erectile dysfunction. It seems that it might also improve muscle tone around the bladder, by increasing blood flow there, in addition to relaxing the soft muscle surrounding the urethra, thus making an easier passage for urine, as well as seminal fluid, to flow.

Two thirds of the men in this trial showed significant improvements in their symptoms compared with those taking a placebo.

Good News from Italy   1 comment

Reported in international news today was research on 7,000 men, over 4 years in the Molise region of Italy confirmed that drinking three strong coffees a day cuts the chances of prostate cancer by more than 50%.

Study leader George Pounis, of the Mediterranean Neurological Institute, said: ‘By analysing their coffee consumption habits and comparing them with prostate cancer cases occurring over time, we saw a net reduction of risk of 53% in those who drank more than three cups a day.’

The team confirmed their findings by testing the action of coffee extracts on prostate cancer cells in laboratory studies.

In the UK, prostate cancer in men is the biggest killer after breast cancer in women.

If you’d like a copy of the full report, let me know and I’ll send it to you.

Happy love-making – and survive cancer!

The Wrong Blood   Leave a comment

A study shows that men with blood type A, B or AB are up to four times more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction than men who have blood type O.

It doesn’t alter the fact that smoking, being overweight, and having high blood pressure are thought to be the most important factors, however the study carried out by Ordu University in Turkey suggests your blood type may be as influential.

Researchers took blood samples from 350 men in their sixties and split them into two groups according to whether they had erectile problems. The results revealed men with blood types A, B or AB were three to four times more likely to fail in the bedroom than those with blood type O.

Just 16 per cent with O blood types had problems, compared with 42 per cent of those with blood type A.

If you’re having problems, get checked out – there is help out there.

More semen   Leave a comment

Men in a new relationship produce more semen and healthier sperm, compared with men seeing a woman long-term. This was suggested in the journal Evolutionary Psychological Science; the thinking behind this statement is that it is a tactic by the male body to ensure their sperm competes with other sperm to fertilise an egg.

Premature Ejaculation   Leave a comment

This spoils the main event – can be very depressing – and affects 25% of men in the UK.

New research by a medical team in Istanbul, and published in the journal Andrologia, revealed that all those men who climaxed too quickly had one thing in common: they all had significantly lower levels of vitamin B12 than those guys who could last longer.

Scientists stressed more research is needed but one theory is that B12 bolsters levels of neurotransmitters thought to play a key role in controlling ejaculation.

How can you boost your levels? Off-the-shelf yeast extract called ‘Marmite’ is one of the richest sources of this vitamin. A daily dollop is worth a try – keep it up – if you’ll pardon the expression. Love it or hate it, spread on toast will give you a good start to the day. Every day to maintain that essential level.

If you want to learn more about the chemistry of love and sex, treat yourself to a copy of Exploring Sex, Love and Lust. You, and your lover, will not regret it.

Happy love-making.

Some Like it Huge   Leave a comment

There’s no doubt that some do like it huge. And I’m talking about all aspects of the human body, whether it be breasts, bums, eyes, hair, or with men it is their penis.

Looking around the net I’ have found yet another website devoted to the latter. Here’s a link: http://ilikeithugecom.tumblr.com/archive.

It seems most visitors to this site are men Рmen, after all, do like the visuals Рand many are gay or bi-sexual.  Perhaps some are heterosexual.  But what intrigues me is the growing number of females visiting sites like this.

Are you one? If so, please let me know, and tell me what you hope to see – and why. All correspondence is held in strict confidentiality.
